Here’s 11 why Hopes and Dreams is different:
- We only go where there is extreme poverty, the cost of living is less than $2.00 per day
- We specialise by going into remote untouched rural areas
- We collaborate with grassroots partners and community groups
- We empower and equip by working together on community owned development projects that create long term self sustainable solutions
- We give respect by engaging appropriate authority from village leadership before projects commence
- We encourage teamwork by establishing committees whom are involved during all phases of a project
- We build value in people by teaching them how to fish, so they don’t have to depend on others
- We build resilience not reliance by giving a ‘hand up and not a hand out’
- We educate by training the community in pump maintenance and Sanitation and Hygiene
- All board members in Australia and internationally are volunteers and are not paid for their board positions.
- Between 90%-100% of funds received go towards our projects, i.e. a maximum of 10% administration fees.
